You should accustom your puppy to react to an attempt of a
stranger
to unlock the door and to alarm its owner (trainer) and members of
its family. Your pup must react to people passing by your flat or
entering nearest flats calmly without alarm. A flat can be guarded by a dog with silent
informing or bark alarm.

Educate Your Dog since Puppyhood
Silent
Informing
A dog trainer’s helper (a stranger, who must be instructed in
advance about all his/her actions) comes to the outer flat door,
slightly knocks it. He or she puts the key into the door lock,
turns
it and then pushes the door bell. As
soon
as the puppy reacts to this and runs to the door, the
trainer
comes to the door with it and pats it saying
“Good
boy” or “Good girl”.

Regular Training Guarantees Your Success
If the puppy starts barking, the trainer
cuts barking short with the “Stop!” command. If
it
continues barking, jerk it slightly with the collar.
The helper
stops actions and leaves. The trainer gets the puppy out of
the
hall, pats it saying “Good boy” or “Good girl”, takes its
front left
paw with his/her right hand and touches his/her leg with it
two-three times, and then gives treats to the puppy. You
should
repeat the exercise one-two times after five-six minutes long
break.

Dog Should Understand It Conducts Well
The exercises become more difficult as
far
as first skills are worked out. The helper
makes
noise only without ringing. Other stranger is asked to help
the
trainer. After the puppy rushes to the door because of noise
that
the helper produces, the trainer stays in the room and pats
saying
“Good boy” or “Good girl”, and gives it treats
only when it runs up
to him/her and touches his/her leg. The helper goes away
after the
exercise ends. The trainer acts in the same way when the
acquainted
people come with the only difference - he/she lets them in.

Bark Alarm
The trainer’s helper comes to the outer flat door and
makes the same
actions as for silent informing. After that the trainer
comes to the
puppy at the door and commands “Bark!” to it, provoking it
to bark.
Then he/she pats it saying “Good boy” or “Good girl”, and
gives it
treats. You should repeat the
exercise
two-three times after five-six minutes long break.
If
the puppy starts barking at once, you don’t have to give
it “Bark!”
command.
Some puppies are excited and react to people
passing by your flat or
entering the nearest flats. Such unwanted
actions must be cut short with the “Stop!” command.
If it is not effective enough, you can jerk the collar.
If your puppy only starts training and you plan to
train it to
attack, you can choose professional
